like a brand new gift...
and reinterpret and redefine...

Europeanness as an idea or notion is NOT opposed in any sens to "Americanness" or "Canadianness",
and doesn't exclude any countries who belong to Western Civilization, like Georgia, for example,
and doesn't exclude anyone who chooses to be European.
